An experience. A feeling. The essence of luxury.

In the early 18th century Emmanuel Courvoisier and his associate Louis Gallois redefined cognac. The next generation, Felix Courvoisier and Jules Gallois took Courvoisier® to a whole new level and turned it into the luxury experience it is today. This came about when they moved their headquarters from Paris to the heart of the Cognac region, Jarnac, where they perfected the Courvoisier® cognac.

So what is cognac? A cognac is a form of brandy made from white grapes. In order for it to be classified as Cognac, it must be made in the Cognac region of France. Felix Courvoisier knew that the best cognac can only be produced from Colombard, Folle Blanche or Ugni Blanc grapes. As such, Courvoisier® mainly works with the finest four growing regions Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies and Fins Bois.

The grapes are selected for their perfect combination of clay, chalk, lime and flint stones, rainfall and sunshine. They are harvested at their peak then pressed by the vine-growers, after which the juices are allowed to naturally ferment, transforming the grape sugars into wine.

The wine is then double distilled in a traditional process unique to cognac. Courvoisier® is one of the few cognac houses to distil “on the lees”, a specific technique that involves keeping the yeast residue.

The final product is separated into three parts: the head, the heart and the tails. Only the clear and pure liquid from the heart is used to craft Courvoisier®. This precious eau-de-vie is then aged in barrels handcrafted from oak trees directly selected by Courvoisier from specific forests.

Since the 18th century when Napoleon III gave Courvoisier® the title of Official Supplier to the Imperial Court, to winning multiple awards consistently in the 21st century, Felix Courvoisier’s legacy lives on as the innovative and sophisticated father of premium cognac.

Courvoisier® VS Cognac

A youthful and lively blend of cognac, delivering a spectrum of sensations. Courvoisier VS Cognac is a blend of several crus aged between three and seven years (four to eight for Russia), composed principally of Fins Bois with a balancing hand of Petite Champagne. The fusion of younger and older cognacs gives Courvoisier® VS a fruity, delicate taste and a bouquet filled with ripe fruit and spring flowers.

Ripe fruits: The chalky soil in Fins Bois delivers a hint of ripened fruits that is its signature aroma.

Spring Flowers: Inhale deeply for the bouquet of spring flowers, which is a hallmark of grapes harvested at their peak from the Fins Bois crus.

Fresh Oakiness: The rich, fresh oak bouquet is controlled throughout the ageing process to make sure it doesn’t dominate the young cognac.

Courvoisier® V.S.O.P.

A delicate bouquet and excellent balance of oak and exotic flavours. Grande and Petite Champagnes bring harmony while Fins Bois give a floral and fruity character to Courvoisier® V.S.O.P. Cognac. This skillfully crafted cognac is a blend of several crus with a perfect balance between Fins Bois, Grande and Petite Champagnes at the peak of their aromatic potential.

Peach: When the cognac is distilled and aged, it begins to conjure the soft, luscious aroma of ripe peach.

Toasted almonds: After several years in our French fine-grained oak barrels, the spirit develops nutty notes and ages to produce a sweet, caramelized flavour resembling that of toasted almonds.

Jasmine: The distillation on the lees is a complex and meticulous process but it gives fruity and musk notes, evoking a jasmine aroma.

Courvoisier® X.O.

A very old blend of fine and well-matured cognac recognised as one of the finest X.O.s of the world. Courvoisier® X.O.
